Our top 5 tips for sending flowers to a hospital

There’s nothing better than a bright and cheery floral bouquet to lift someone’s spirits, especially if they are recovering from an injury or illness in the hospital. Flowers are colourful, fragrant, fresh, and beautiful and do wonders for revitalising a drab hospital room, as well as someone’s mood. In fact, people who receive flowers instead of other gifts are happier and remain happier longer. That’s the powerful effect flowers have!

We have put together our 5 Top Tips for sending Hospital Flowers to help you navigate a smooth delivery to your friend or loved one.

1. CALL THE HOSPITAL

There might be some restrictions with sending flowers to your loved one in the hospital, so we highly recommend calling up the hospital first to see if they accept flower deliveries.

This is also a good time to ask the staff how the flowers should be delivered. They might recommend putting a room number down or to get the florist to confirm the details of the patient upon delivery (as it’s not unusual for patients to move rooms!).

2. CHOOSE A FLOWER DESIGN THAT HAS A VASE

Along with the flowers themselves, it is also important to take time to carefully select the perfect vase or holding vessel for your flower arrangement. Hospitals are hustling and bustling places, so it is important to choose a vase that is durable in case it gets knocked over on accident by either the patient, a visitor, or a member of the hospital staff.

3. CONSIDER ADDING A GIFT

While flowers can be a fantastic way to show you care, including a meaningful card just adds that extra special touch. Be sure to tell them that you’re thinking of them and sending them lots of healing thoughts. You might also want to add a little gift to surprise your loved one too (chocolate is always a good idea).

4.  INCLUDE A BEAUTIFUL CARD

You may feel that the important part of sending flowers to a patient in the hospital is the most important part of the gift, and you may not even want any credit. However, a hospital patient may be very excited by the flowers and will feel more appreciative when they know who to thank. It can help them feel less alone, so always include a card with a caring message.

If you don't know what to say in a card that accompanies the flowers, we can help with suggestions. When you don't have a lot to say, simply expressing your care and well wishes will be fine. The hospital patient is sure to care more about the sentiment than the exact words that are on the card.

5. MAKE SURE ALL THE RECIPIENT’S DETAILS ARE CORRECT

It is essential that you have the recipient's full name, contact phone number, correct hospital, room number (if known) and the hospital's address.

Also, be mindful that hospitals can have multiple locations with the same hospital names, as well as the fact that patients can be moved to another ward or location.

If you have any questions or concerns, the Little Love Co team is always happy to take your call and make sure your delivery of flowers to the hospital is easy and straightforward.
